A few weekends ago we decided to take our family of 8 on a quick one night camping trip to McCormicks Creek State Park. This was our first time to tent camp with all of us and our first time to the campgrounds at McCormicks Creek. We had heard mixed reviews about the campground but decided to check it out. We made our reservations online and chose a site that was on an outer loop near the woods and a trail.
We were delighted to find a beautiful campground, level campsite and trees and leaves everywhere. We had the perfect amount of room to set up 2 large tents facing each other, and an extra table to hold the food and supplies in addition to the picnic table already there and the fire ring.
We thought the campground was very pretty. We were a short walk to the bathrooms and further down was a playground. The kids threw the football and baseball in front of our campsite and then we took a family hike. We also stopped by the horse barn to take a look at the horses that were in the pasture. After a hike and a hot dog dinner over the campfire the kids took their flashlights and headed to the playground. They ran and played with other kids and came back to check in periodically and for smores:) The next day we enjoyed another hike before heading home.
The kids had a wonderful time and wished we could have stayed longer. Our trial trip was a success!! We have no complaints. Thank you McCormicks Creek. For more information about McCormicks Creek State Park go to:
