Adventure Review

We went to the Dunes State Park a couple years ago for fall break.  Our main reason for being in the area was we had a trip planned to Chicago to watch a Fire soccer game.  It took around an hour to drive from the park to the area of Chicago we were going to.  We went early to the game, and tailgated in the parking lot.  It was certainly cheaper to camp than stay in Chicago!  It was pretty cool at night, since the campground is right on Lake Michigan  and it was the end of October.  We used two space heaters and were warm and toasty even though it was windy and in the 30’s at night.  During the day it got up in the 60’s.  The restrooms and shower house was very nice and clean.  It is also heated!!  We noticed that with the way the campground is set up, the restrooms really are not that far away from any section of the campground.

There is a trail that leads from the campground to the beach.  We spent quite a bit of the day walking the Lake Michigan beach and climbing the sand dunes.  There is a visitor center not far from the park, where you can find out alot of information about the history of the dunes.  We would definently recommend this park and would love to go back!
