Adventure Review

815 Riverside DrEstes ParkCO 80517

I don’t think this private park has a website.  It is right next to Spruce Lake Campground, which is a State owned property, separated by just a fence.

This rv park has 110 sites, many of which are big rig summer residents.  I didn’t see any tents.  The sites are very close together, with our pop-up on grass and a picnic table on a concrete slab.  The entrance is on a hill going down into the park.  I would say there are about 20 of the permanent residents on the hill, with the rest on the flat area, which is a loop.  There is a fast moving river that runs along  the far edge of the park with no wall or barrier except trees along it.  We were there over July 4th, and I think that may have had a lot to do with the high water.  Our kids were too busy site seeing to ride their bikes here, but the road was paved, so it would be a decent place to ride.  My husband jogged outside the park a couple of times.  Some pretty serious hills for someone from Indiana.

The reason why we picked this Park is because it was one of very few that still had spaces when we booked just a couple weeks before the 4th.

The Rocky Mountain National Park is about 2 miles away.  Estes Park is in the other direction and a little farther.

There are 2 bathrooms- Both cement block structures.  They both had laundry outside under a roof.  It rained briefly while I was doing laundry and we didn’t get wet.  There are a table and chairs at one of the laundries, but none at the other.  I never had trouble with water pressure or heat.  But the fixtures are old and in need of updating and laid out very poorly.  The ‘main’ bathroom, the one in the loop with about 90 rv’s, has just one ladies’ toilet, shower, and sink.  There are privacy walls around the shower and toilet.  The door to the entire room was left open all the time with a sign indicating that one was supposed to shut it if using the room.  It had a lock which failed on me, meaning I was taking a shower and someone walked in to take their time on the toilet, if you know what I mean.  There was only one stool in there and so no substantial place to put one’s clothes.

The upper bathroom, on the hill, has 4 stalls with privacy walls and just as many sinks.  There are also 4 shower stalls with no privacy area for changing.  Gross.   The showers have a plastic curtain and there is a double swinging privacy door near the door to outside.  Gross.  There is a long bench that I suppose everyone is supposed to put their clothes on while they shower and then all jump out into the open to dry off and get dressed.  GROSS!  And the floor is covered with plastic tiles with grids.  I wonder how they ever get all the hair off of that.  GROSS.

My husband just reported that the men’s main bathroom’s shower was built for a short person, there was no lock on the shower door, and the water pressure wasn’t that great.

I thank you for letting me get that off my chest.  I would NOT recommend this RV park unless you have no use for the bathroom.
