Adventure Review
Dark thirty hit and hit hard. I was down in Oklahoma on my annual Porkapalooza hog hunt and had made arrangements with our host Matt Napper to contact one of his buddies to guide us on trip to Lake Texoma. Captain Rick Sproat, owner of Fossil Creek Guide Service had his hands full with 6 of us trying to catch a limit of stripe bass for a fish fry. I’d heard that these fish fight hard and can get pretty big. We were more interested in quantity and focused our efforts on filling our limits rather than going to a trophy fish. Rick let it be known that if we wanted a big fish, we could do it but we’d have to fish differently and we wouldn’t be filling the boat. But we were content to have some fun, enjoy the companionship and take a break from the hog hunting. I was fortunate to catch the first fish. While none of the fish we all caught were monsters, we all had a lot of fun and got to fish a lake that we hadn’t been on before.
Would I go back? Yes, I plan on fishing with Rick again in 2011. Fishing licenses can be purchased online and clients are encouraged to bring their own lunches and drinks. As an added bonus, Rick filleted all the fish so that we could put them in our coolers for the trip home.

I went back there again this past June and had a great time. Even if the fish were not biting like they were the year before, we got into them in the late morning and brought back enough to have a fish fry for 15 people. Good times.
