Adventure Review

We went down to Florida for Christmas 2011 to spend the holidays with my husband’s parents then took some time as a family and went to Longboat Key for a few days.  The weather was perfect!  We stayed in the Silver Sands Resort condos and were very pleased with our accommodations.  The condo had a King size bed and a pull out Queen size couch. A fully stocked kitchen and full bath were plenty big enough for our family of 4.Our room had a connection door so if you needed more than a room for 4, it could easily be arranged.

Our view looked out over the pool onto the ocean!  Every night we were given a beautiful view of the sunset.  We walked on the beach watching the sun go down and picking up clams and shells off the beach!  We had a small putt-putt course, shuffleboard and the pool for entertainment on site.  There is also St.Armands Circle outdoor shopping a few miles down the island.  Over in Bradenton/Sarasota there are a TON of things to do.  Lots of shopping, putt-putt and museums.

We had dinner at Mar Vista two nights and the food there is EXCELLENT!   They have an outdoor seating area that is so relaxing and looks over the bay.  I would definitely recommend eating there.  We also had pizza one night at Oma’s pizza…really gross.  I would not go back there again!

We went putt putting at Smugglers Cove in Bradenton which was lots of fun. We also went to the Ringling Brothers Circus Museum.  It’s absolutely gorgeous!  There is a TON of awesome circus memorabilia.  There is also a HUGE display of a hand carved circus town. A man has spent 50 years carving people, animals, trains, buildings, etc and has set up an entire circus coming into town and set up.  It is truly awesome and is worth seeing if your in the Bradenton area.  You can walk through the Ringling mansion which sits on the Bradenton Bay.  Even if your not a big circus fan, this place is definitely worth seeing.

There are a lot of great things to do in Longboat Key and the Bradenton area.  You can also rent Jet skis or boats if you want to go out in the bay or the ocean.  It’s a great vacation destination anytime of year!
