Adventure Review

Trail #5 at McCormick’s Creek State Park is a popular trail.  We began the trail from the Wolf Cave Parking area.  The trailhead marker is at the upper right end of where you park you vehicle.  The trail itself is a 2 mile loop and is listed in the park’s brochure as moderate in difficulty.  We thought the trail’s difficulty was moderate to easy.  Trail #5 featured a couple of geological sinkholes, Wolf Cave, and six creek crossings of Little Branch Creek.  We chose the trail because we were curious about the cave.  Unfortunately the cave is permanently closed, so we just took pictures and video of the entrance to the cave.

Our Xperience on Trail #5 was good.  We had light rain during our hike, but we enjoyed the trip regardless.  We hiked this trail in late April and all the budding leaves were beginning to put some nice color in the woods.  See the attached video for a good look at this trail.

We would recommend this trail to those who would enjoy taking pictures of the cave.  We would also recommend this trail to those who want an moderately easy hike.  Note:  If it has recently rained your feet will get wet in the multiple creek crossings.
