Adventure Review
Trail #10 at McCormick’s Creek State Park in Spencer, Indiana is .7 mile moderate-rugged trail. We accessed the trail by parking at Wolf Cave Parking. As you face away from the parking area towards the street, the trail head is across the street and to the left about 100 yards.
The trail begins with a 150 step staircase down to creek elevation. This descent will warm up your legs or make Jello out of them. At the bottom of the stairs, the trail follows McCormick’s Creek to the west and end near the Old Quarry. Along this part of the trail we looked for good stepping stones to cross the creek a couple of times. Then at the end of trail #10 we decided to continue onto another trail. So, we had to cross the creek via a 20+ foot long log to join trail #7. After crossing the log we had to ascend a 125 step staircase onto trail #7. At the top of the stairs we headed east back towards the parking area. This part of trail #7 is only moderate in difficulty and has pretty views of McCormick’s Creek from a ridge top. There are many places to stop at overlooks and take pretty pictures.
