Adventure Review
We went on a family hiking and camping trip to McCormick’s Creek State Park in Spencer, Indiana on Fall Break this year in October. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and enjoyed the fall weather. We chose to hike trail #3 to see the waterfall, which is a highlight of the park.
Trail #3 is on a .8 mile trail in length. This trail is listed as rugged due to a couple of sets of stairs and navigating the rocky creek bed. The trail is a loop and begins near the Inn at the park. In spring and summer this trail could involve getting your feet wet, but this trip was very dry for our hike in the fall.
This trail is a must when you visit McCormick’s Creek State Park. Our kids loved it and the waterfall was very scenic. Be sure to bring your camera or video camera to capture the beauty.
Recommendation: Bring your hiking boots or shoes that have good traction and you don’t mind them getting wet. Watch your step in the fall because the fallen leaves cover the rocks you have to navigate in and around.
