Adventure Review

Group of 16 went to Holiday Valley Ski Area in western New York(about an hour south of Buffalo).   This is a great family ski area.  There are three lodges at the base of the hill. Although the vertical drop is only 750′ (much less than areas out west), it is larger than anything in the midwest. We were there over the New Year’s holiday(Dec 30th, 2009-Jan 2nd, 2010).  One of the days was one of the busiest the resort had ever had. We never waited more than a couple of minutes in a lift line. Not a lot of expert runs, but for the novice and intermediate skier it had plenty.

We were able to bring in our own food for lunch. This is a rarity for any ski area.  They also had charcoal grills available on a first come, first serve basis. We took advantage of this and grilled burgers and brats every day.
